I wanted to share with you some impressive results from our recent Anglers’ Legacy survey. The Anglers’ Legacy program, as you may already know, asks avid anglers to become “Ambassadors” who pledge to introduce at least one newcomer a year to fishing. The survey shows that Ambassadors are doing just that — and then some.
According to the 2010 survey, Anglers’ Legacy Ambassadors introduced approximately 67% more newcomers to fishing within the last 12 months than non-Ambassadors, averaging 4.2 newcomers each. The survey also found that more than 80% of Ambassadors took a newcomer fishing within the last year compared to 59% of non-Ambassadors. Talk about a big catch!
Especially exciting is the news that Ambassadors are introducing so many more young people to fishing. Survey stats reveal that each Ambassador introduced an average of 3.3 youth to fishing, a whopping 73% more than non-Ambassadors!
Because of our Ambassadors, thousands of young people will experience the unforgettable memories and lifelong rewards of fishing and boating. Today’s newcomers will become tomorrow’s Ambassadors, passing the legacy of fishing on to many thousands more.
Also, a thriving population of anglers contributes to the fishing and boating industry, conservation and our nation’s economy. Clearly, the Anglers’ Legacy program is a win-win-win for everyone.
So the natural next question to ask is: are YOU an Anglers’ Legacy Ambassador? If you are, congratulations for being part of a very effective team! If you haven’t taken the Pledge yet, this is a great time to commit. You can learn more at AnglersLegacy.org.
