Gone Fishing for Summer

The first day of summer is here! Finally the long, dreary winter days feel far behind us. And really, what better way to celebrate the kick-off of summer than by spending quality time in the great outdoors? Lucky for you, June is recognized as Great Outdoors Month. And even better, Take Me Fishing™ has tons of ideas for how you can celebrate. TakeMeFishing.org provides fishing and boating ‘where to’ and ‘how to’ information so you can start making family memories, whether you are new to the water or not. Now you have the perfect excuse to take that long needed trip and go fishing with the family.

Did You Know?

Research shows

  • 48% of people lay awake from stress at night
  • Only 37.5% of people currently use the outdoors to unwind
  • Boating is ranked as one of the top 3 of all stress-relieving activities

In addition, the funds from your fishing licenses and boat registrations go towards the conservation of our aquatic natural resources.

Make Fishing & Boating Family Time

A day on the water offers the perfect opportunity for making great family memories, taking timeless photos, and teaching your kids skills that will last a lifetime. For tips on fun family fishing and boating activities, visit the Family section on TakeMeFishing.org.

Safety First

When fishing with kids, it is always important to follow simple safety rules before hitting the water. First, be sure that everyone has their own personal flotation device (PFD). Life vests and jackets are not just important for wearing on the boat, but should be worn anytime you are on or around deep or fast-moving water. Check out our fishing and boating safety section for a full list of safety tips.
